(Please be sure to read the entire listing before purchasing!)
This digital download pattern is based on my "plant cuttings in water" hand embroidery design, a project that features a simple line drawing of three green pothos-like leaves in a blue vase nestled within a pink plant stand. This beginner-friendly project features simple techniques and is easily modifiable. Feel free to adjust the colors to your own preferences -- I'd love to see what you make!
What do you get?
This three page digital hand embroidery pattern (delivered in PDF format) includes the following:
- An introduction page with tips and tricks + links to tutorials for all of the stitches and techniques you'll need to know.
- A page with a pattern for transfer (sized for a 4" embroidery hoop when printed on a normal sheet of 8.5x11" computer paper), reference image, and color guide with DMC color codes.
- A step-by-step stitch guide, where I've indicated the color of the floss, number of strands, and specific stitch used for each step.
What size hoop will you need?
When you print this pattern onto a standard 8.5x11" sheet of paper, the pattern for transfer will print out sized for a 4" embroidery hoop.
Want it to be bigger or smaller? You should be able to enlarge the image to fit any size hoop using the PDF reader on your computer or tablet - to do that you'll need to use Google (for example, when I typed in "preview mac enlarge image," I was able to find a handy step-by-step guide for doing this).
What floss colors and fabric will you need?
The pattern itself includes the specific colors from DMC that I used to stitch the sample, along with general color descriptions meant to help you with color choices should you decide to use another brand of floss. I stitched this sample using floss in green, blue, and pink, but you should feel free to use whatever colors you like!
I stitched the original sample onto two layers of a white linen fabric I thrifted from an old set of curtains; again, use whatever fabric you have access to or prefer to use!
What if I don't know all the stitches?
The first page of your pattern includes links to free tutorials where I take you through each stitch, step-by-step.
What else will I need to know?
You'll need to know how to transfer a pattern to your fabric, and how to back your hoop; again, the pattern itself includes direct links to relevant tutorials!
This pattern is for personal use only, which means that you cannot send the pattern to a friend or sell the finished piece. Of course, it's absolutely okay if you want to give the final product as a gift!
You'll receive a link to download your digital product in the Thank You page after you checkout, along with an emailed link that will last for 30 days.
