(Please be sure to read the entire listing before purchasing.)
The Hopebroidery Box is a monthly subscription box for hand embroidery; subscribers to the mini, digital-only version Hopebroidery Box receive that month's pattern along with a full-length, stitch-by-stitch video tutorial. If you're not sure if you want to subscribe, or maybe you skipped the December 2023 mini box, this listing is for you!
This beginner-friendly hand embroidery pattern will help you to recreate the Swan and Flowers hand embroidery project, which features a white swan surrounded by flowers in shades of yellow, blue, and white.
By purchasing this pattern, you will NOT be receiving any physical products - you will ONLY be receiving the digital portion of this kit. Please note: if you've purchased the Swan and Flowers Hand Embroidery Kit, you do NOT need to purchase this pattern - the pattern comes with your kit!
What do you get?
This document includes a total of 6 pages:
- on pages 1 and 2, you’ll find general information about this month’s box, subscription information (which I include for subscribers, but leave in just in case you're looking for more information!), and your link to this project’s full-length video tutorial (where I take you through the entire project from start to finish, step by step!);
- on pages 3 and 4, you’ll find the digital pattern itself (which includes a pattern for transfer, reference image, color codes for both Sublime Stitching and DMC embroidery floss, color guide, and numbered steps);
- on page 5, you’ll find a more printer-friendly version of that pattern (which includes both the pattern for transfer as well as the steps written out in sequential order);
- and on page 6, you’ll find a detailed timeline for the video tutorial itself (perfect for when you'd prefer to skip around or revisit portions of the tutorial!).
This is the exact document I send to subscribers – so you should feel free to ignore any information that isn’t particularly relevant to you on those first two pages!
What size hoop will you need?
When you print this pattern onto a standard 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper, the pattern for transfer will print out sized for a 4" embroidery hoop.
Want it to be bigger or smaller? You should be able to enlarge the image to fit any size hoop using the PDF reader on your computer or tablet - to do that you'll need to use Google (for example, when I type in "preview mac enlarge image," I was able to find a handy step-by-step guide for doing this on my computer).
What floss colors and fabric will you need?
If you're hoping to recreate this with the embroidery floss colors I provided in the physical kit to create the sample in these photos, you'll need to have Sublime Stitching 100, 704, 305. and 503 on hand. Alternatively, you may have DMC B5200, 3799, 3855, and 3848 on hand (the DMC colors listed here are a close approximation to the Sublime Stitching colors used in this pattern, but may not be an exact match). However, feel free to use whatever brand or color of floss you have access to! Please feel free to play around with colors, and choose what works best for you!
I stitched this project using two layers of Kona cotton fabric in the color "glacier,” but you should feel free to use whatever fabric you like!
What else do you need to know?
As mentioned above, this is not just a pattern - it also comes with a link to a full-length, stitch-by-stitch video tutorial. I take you through every step of the process, from threading your needle, to stitching, all the way to finishing off your hoop.
In the video, I demonstrate how to transfer this design using the specific products used in the kit itself. You can use whatever transfer method you like best; I've written a blog post outlining a few of my very favorite options for transferring embroidery patterns to fabric.
Anything else?
This pattern is for personal use only, which means that you cannot send the pattern to a friend or sell the finished piece. Of course, it's absolutely okay if you want to give the final product as a gift!
That said, I absolutely love to see what you make with my patterns and kits! You'll find information in the pattern and video on how to best share your work with me, even if you would prefer not to share it on public social accounts!
You'll receive a link to download your digital product in the Thank You page after you checkout, along with an emailed link that will last for 30 days.
